Time Well Spent

Something about the journey.

Time Well Spent

Although I’ve been thinking about doing something in fashion since my first delusional design experiences, I never felt called to enter the industry, partly because of how crowded the market is and how competitive the space can be. It felt like a huge cliché: a girl dreaming of her own brand. I didn’t know how to differentiate myself, or how to reconcile with the fact that I’d have to tell people to buy more things in order for it to be successful.

I’ve had some (failed) entrepreneurial experiences, from deep-fried snacks to edtech platforms. The motives for some (the snacks) were better than for others.

Life, growth, and goal-setting can be all sorts of things: fun, confronting, exciting, and overwhelming. I noticed that I’m very good at setting ambitious goals, but somewhere along the way, I would trip over my own expectations and stumble into overwhelm. I made the goals so tempting without thinking through what the road there would actually look like. Then, when the road became hard and the goal remained unachieved, I ended up disappointed in myself.

My lesson: you’ve got to be obsessed with the process if you ever want to make real progress.

It works both ways: on one hand, it keeps morale and motivation high, and on the other, it helps when things don’t go as planned or take longer than expected (aka entrepreneurship). One of my favorite quotes from the algorithm is: “Many of life’s failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up.”  -Thomas Edison

The idea for Meuck came to me when I was asking myself:
What do I enjoy doing most in the world? What makes time fly and flow inevitable?

The answer was: crafting and creating with my mom. So, welcome to Meuck: my excuse to do more of that. :)

What makes your time fly by?
